Summer is officially here. As the temperature gets hotter we look for ways to keep cool; swimming and opening our windows are two of the most common ways to keep cool. Children can drown in pools, rivers, ponds, lakes, or oceans. They can even drown in a few inches of water in bathtubs, toilets, and large buckets. Oregon records that 50 young children fall out of windows each year. Install window stops or guards that restrict openings to no more than 4 inches. Teach children to play safely away from windows. Please read more below water safety and about how to help prevent window falls.
